About me

Hello, I'm Silvia Rachi

My name is Sílvia Rachi and I am a psychoanalyst, with additional training in History and Law. I completed my master's and doctorate at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, followed by a doctorate at the University of Lisbon. My post-doctorate was also carried out at UFMG, where I deepened my research, an experience that profoundly enriched my training.

My passion for psychoanalysis motivates me to continue in constant training, strictly following the 'psychoanalysis tripod' which includes ongoing training, supervision and personal analysis. This tireless dedication not only enhances my therapeutic skills but also allows me to provide effective and empathetic care, helping my patients understand and transform their lives.

First
Session

In the first session we will assess the existing demand and discuss treatment possibilities.

How does Psychotherapy work?

In psychoanalytic therapy, through the patient's speech (called free association), we deal with anxieties and thoughts that do not always have an obvious reason. For example, someone being afraid of driving because they were in a serious accident is a seemingly understandable explanation. Typically, the problem is addressed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other therapeutic lines as well.

However, the reasons for certain manifestations are not always so obvious. They are repressed, they are in the unconscious and they insist on appearing through symptoms that seem to have no relationship with that dysfunctional behavior. Why do I have this anxiety or repeat this behavior? These are common questions in the office. The manifestations are diverse: anxiety, fears, phobias, addictions, compulsions, repetitions, emotional and professional difficulties, depression, among others.

What is treated by psychoanalytic therapy and who does it serve?

Psychoanalytic therapy always focuses on the unconscious causes of the disorder and/or dysfunctional behavior. That is, the “open wound” and hidden. And the approach is done in a contextualized way. In other words, taking into account each person’s story.
